Dental Health
Oral and dental care are frequently overlooked and it is one of the most essential aspect for your pets to maintain a healthy life style. Routine care of the teeth and gums can significantly lengthen your pet’s life. Your furry companions can develop gingivitis and periodontal disease if their teeth are not properly cared for. Gingivitis and periodontal disease can lead to major systemic problems.
Dental Exams & Cleanings
When bacteria from the mouth enters the bloodstream, the bacteria can cause damage to vital organs (kidneys, heart and liver). To prevent this from occurring, annual, and sometimes bi-annual dental examination and teeth cleaning are required. Some of our pets require teeth cleaning just as frequently as people do (every 6 months).
Dental Disease
Dental disease is due to poor oral health that occurs over the pet’s lifetime. We recommend daily teeth brushing at home along with routine visits to your veterinarian. Depending on your extent of your pet’s dental disease, additional steps at home or in the office may be necessary. At Paws & Claws Animal hospital , our staff members can show you how to brush your pet’s teeth and help you select the most valuable dental products for your pet. If you have any question do not hesitate to ask.
